Blood...
Today Corrin, our Controller made us all give blood. It's for a good cause - we all know that - we just don't want to do it! We had 9 staff members participate (out of 27) with 7 pints collected. It's a small amount but every bit helps in this time of need. If you happen to stop by the hotel today you'll get to see everyone walking around with those attractive pink bandages! Happy Holidays to all!

Employee Holiday Luncheon
We had our annual holiday gift exchange and luncheon today- with a twist- we did it "white elephant" style. Lots of laughs and lots of fun was had by all. All the staff brought a dish to pass which led to a pretty impressive display- everything from tacos, to chicken wings, to noodle kugel and cheesecake. For some reason the most sought after gift was a lamp... don't quite understand that one. It was great to relax and laugh with all the people we work with! |

2nd Holiday Tea
We've just finished up our 2nd Holiday Tea. It's such a pleasure seeing everyone come through the hotel and warm up with hot cocoa, coffee and tea. The kids love the Christmas tree and watching the horse-drawn trolley go by. We had warm scones and holiday cookies so the lobby smelled wonderful! It looked like the MOST was very busy today, we saw lots of families walking that way. What a great Saturday for the kids- a trolley ride, afternoon tea at the Jefferson Clinton Hotel and an IMAX experience! We'll see everyone next week!

1st Holiday Tea
Well the 1st Saturday of the annual holiday program was a great success. We saw many families take advantage of the free trolley ride throughout Armory Square, enjoying a little bit of history. We had many guests stop by for afternoon tea, our chef prepared lovely scones with blueberries and applies and cinnamon. The little ones seemed to prefer hot chocolate to the tea! Overall it was a lovely winter afternoon for the many people who chose to come down to the square! We hope to see everyone next Saturday! Don't forget to bring your skates, you can glide around Clinton Square under the big tree! |

Taxi Driver Appreciation
by Charley Hannagan Syracuse Post Standard Tuesday June 17, 2008, 1:20 PM Syracuse, NY--About 25 to 30 drivers have shown up so far for a free lunch from the Jefferson Clinton Hotel in recognition of Taxi Appreciation Day. "Taxi drivers are unappreciated and this is our way of saying 'thank you'," said Timothy Bacon, one of the senior managers of the hotel in downtown Syracuse. Drivers were treated to sandwiches, soda, coffee and fruit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. The hotel doesn't limit its appreciation to one day, Bacon said. The staff often asks drivers who are waiting on guests to have a cup of coffee and a piece of fruit, he said. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2008/06/taxi_driver_appreciation.html |

Staying Environmentaly Friendly for Guests.
By Christina Chatalian Every day is a Green Day at the historic Jefferson Clinton Hotel. The three star hotel built in 1927 has seen a lot of changes through the years including going green a couple years ago and every day they say they work to find better ways to save the environment and provide a healthier environment for hotel guests. The hotel’s motto is "Healing the planet one guest at a time." The hotel features non-toxic paint on the walls, hypo-allergic pillows and comforters, natural shampoos and organic toiletries, energy saving light bulbs, and the cleaning staff uses all Green Sealed and Certified Cleaning Products. Even paper products like toilet paper, paper towels and brochures are from re-cycled paper. Hotel Owner, Steven Busch of Brandy, Wein & Busch Hospitality, says “Every decision we make is what is the healthiest option and what can be recycled and how can we improve what we are doing.” Busch says they have had to shell out a lot of green to go green but the investment is well worth the benefits. Room rates are $169 to $299 but they also offer special discount packages to stay at the hotel. Watch the video here http://www.cnycentral.com/news/video.aspx?id=85568 |
